Rahul Gandhi said if they let him, he’ll respond to the BJP’s allegation that he insulted the nation. Rahul Gandhi denied making any anti-India remarks on his way to parliament, where the ruling BJP has repeatedly demanded an apology for his London remarks raising concerns about India’s democracy.

Rahul Gandhi told INDINEWS he didn’t give an anti-India speech.

Congress MP said: “I’ll speak inside the House if they let me.” However, both houses of Parliament adjourned for the day shortly after re-convening at 2 pm.

Union ministers have demanded Mr Gandhi apologize for his speeches in the UK, which were critical of the government.

“The person who speaks the most in this country and targets the government day and night says abroad that he doesn’t have freedom to speak in this country,” Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said.

We don’t care if Rahul Gandhi sinks the Congress. But if he insults or harms the nation, we can’t be silent. Just because the country rejected Congress leadership doesn’t mean he can tarnish it abroad,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi speaks the language of anti-India forces, says the Law Minister.

“It’s sad that an MP lowers the prestige of parliament. Anti-India forces speak the same language. They repeat what Rahul Gandhi says,” Mr Rijiju said.

On his foreign trips, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always attacked the Congress, so there’s no need for an apology.

I want to ask those who want an apology that Modiji went to five-six countries and humiliated our country saying it was a sin to be born in India, now these people are curbing freedom of expression,” Mr Kharge said.

In a lecture at Cambridge University, the Congress MP said Indian democracy is under pressure.

As Rahul Gandhi said, “Everybody knows that Indian democracy is under attack and is under pressure. I’m the Opposition leader in India, and we’re navigating that (Opposition) space. Parliament, the free press, and the judiciary are the institutions needed for a democracy, but just the idea of mobilization and moving around is getting constrained. Basically, we’re facing an attack on the Indian democracy.”

Congress, other opposition parties have accused the ruling BJP of ducking demands for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate Hindenburg’s allegations against Adani Group. Share price manipulation and stock fraud allegations have been strongly denied by Adani Group.
