Why Is MK Stalin Quiet: Khushbu Sundar, a leader of the BJP, questioned MK Stalin’s silence over a remark made against her by a DMK functionary, demanding his dismissal.
A snowballing controversy over a comment by DMK functionary Saidai Sidiq prompted Ms Sundar to ask NDTV: “Why is my Chief Minister not standing up for me?”
There will be charges filed against the BJP leader, according to the BJP leader. My dignity and respect are at stake and I will go wherever I need to go. I will file a complaint and fight for them,” she said.
In response to the comments, the BJP leader said she had taken them “very personally”. She said, “This man has fallen to the lowest level. My daughters, who are 22 and 19, will question me. I want to be a role model for them.”
DMK women’s wing secretary and MP Kanimozhi apologized to Ms Sundar for his remark targeting the actress-politician and other BJP women leaders in Tamil Nadu a day earlier.
Thoothukudi MP and DMK deputy general secretary MK Stalin said such remarks would not be tolerated by the party.
My apologies as a woman and as a human being for what was said. This will never be tolerated, regardless of the space or party in which it was said. Kanimozhi replied to a post in which the actress tagged her and asked if insulting women was a part of the new Dravidian model, that she was able to openly apologize for this because my leader @mkstalin and my party @arivalayam don’t condone it.
After a video of the DMK functionary Saidai Sidiq’s remark on the women went viral in the social media, Ms Sundar on Thursday tagged Kanimozhi and tweeted, “When men abuse women, it just shows what kind of upbringing they have had & the toxic environment they were brought up in. These men insult the womb of a woman. Such men call themselves followers of #Kalaignar Is this new Dravidian model under H’ble CM @mkstalin rule?@KanimozhiDMK.”
