On the third day of its 51-day journey, the Ganga Vilas Cruise got stuck in Bihar’s Chhapra because of shallow water in the Ganga, officials said.

Because of water shortages near Doriganj, the cruise that was supposed to dock at the shore for tourists to visit Chirand got stuck.
The most important archaeological site in the district is Chirand Saran, located 11 km southeast of Chhapra near Doriganj Bazar. Stupanuma fillings on the banks of the Ghaghra river are associated with Hindu, Buddhist, and Muslim influences. According to officials, the shallow water at the shore made it hard to bring the cruise ashore.
The SDRF team reached the spot with a small boat to rescue the tourists so they wouldn’t have any trouble reaching Chirand Saran.
Chhapra’s CO Satendra Singh, who’s on the arrangement-making team, says Chirand has been well prepared for tourists.
“The SDRF team is stationed at the ghat so that any untoward happening can be handled immediately. Due to less water, it’s hard to bring the cruise to the shore, so small boats are being used,” he said.
There are also special features on Ganga Vilas Cruise. The river goes upstream at 12 kph and downstream at 20 kph. The cruise has an RO system for drinking water, and a sewage treatment plant. There’s everything you need for the people’s comfort and needs on the cruise. The fare in India is 25,000 rupees a day, but in Bangladesh it’s 50,000 rupees.
On January 13, PM Modi flagged off the cruise from Varanasi.
From Varanasi to Dibrugarh in Assam, the luxury triple-deck cruise will travel on the world’s longest waterway. There are 80 passengers on the cruise and 18 suits.
There will be an adventure cruise for 51 days and a 15-day stop in Bangladesh.
Then it’ll go through Assam to Dibrugarh.
In India and Bangladesh, the luxury cruise will cover more than 3,200 kms.
The cruise will go through 27 river systems in UP, Bihar, West Bengal, Bangladesh, and Assam. Three major rivers will pass through the cruise: Ganga, Meghna, and Brahmaputra.
In Bengal, we’ll cruise the Bhagirathi, Hooghly, Bidyavati, Malata, and Sundarbans rivers.
The river passes through Bangladesh’s Meghna, Padma, and Jamuna before entering Assam’s Brahmaputra.
An official statement says the cruise is going to take you to 50 tourist spots, including World Heritage Sights, National Parks, river Ghats, and major cities like Patna in Bihar, Sahibganj in Jharkhand, Kolkata in West Bengal, Dhaka in Bangladesh, and Guwahati in Assam.
