Actor Kamal R Khan Arrested Over Controversial 2020 Tweets
Kamal R Khan Arrested:The case was registered against actor Kamal R Khan based on a complaint by Yuva Sena leader Rahul Kanal.
Actor Kamal R Khan, also known as KRK, was arrested in Mumbai on Tuesday morning. According to the police, KRK was arrested in 2020 in a case against his controversial social media posts.
Kamal Khan was arrested on Tuesday after landing at the Mumbai airport. He was produced in Mumbai’s Borivali court today.
The case was registered on April 30, 2020 based on a complaint by Yuva Sena leader Rahul Kanal, where he alleged that KRK’s tweets on late actors, Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor had allegedly spread “hatred”.
Rahul Kanal had said in his complaint that KRK is constantly spreading hatred on social media.
He said, “He came to Bollywood with a film named ‘Deshdrohi’ and is actually acting like one. Even when the world is going through a pandemic, I hate his inhuman treatment and hatred in all walks of life. Can’t understand spreading.” ,
The complainant said that KRK made hateful remarks against the late actors, Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor.
He said in the complaint, “After the demise of India’s pride Irrfan Khan, he was making shoddy claims and rhetoric on him. He was also talking nonsense about senior actor late Rishi Kapoor.”
He had also said that KRK is not in the country and requested PM Modi to register a case against him.
“This person is definitely not in our country. I would like to urge our Prime Minister to kindly register a case against him under sections 505, 504, 501, 188, 117, 121 and 153(a) of the Indian Penal Code.” (IPC), thus setting an example for all to follow,” the complainant had said.
Kamal Rashid Khan popularly known as KRK has been arrested by Mumbai Police over his controversial tweets in 2020. The self-proclaimed critic, known for taking potshots against several Bollywood celebrities, was reportedly detained upon his arrival in the city. He will be produced in court later today.
“Kamal Rashid Khan was arrested after landing at Mumbai airport. He will be produced in Borivali court today,” Mumbai Police said in a statement to ANI.
While it is still unclear which controversial tweet led to the director’s arrest, an FIR was filed against him in 2020 for making derogatory remarks about late actors Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan.
The FIR was registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by Yuva Sena’s core committee member Rahul Kanal in relation to the derogatory tweet posted by Khan.
A police officer told PTI, “On April 30, Khan reportedly took to Twitter to announce Rishi Kapoor’s hospitalization and said that the actor should not die as liquor shops will soon are about to open.”
The officer said that he had also allegedly targeted Irrfan Khan, a day before his death on April 29.
