Earlier this week, a man in West Bengal was rushed to the hospital with a trident (Trishul) pierced through his neck. Last week, Bhaskar Ram underwent emergency surgery at Kolkata’s Nilratan Sarkar Medical College (NRS).

Social media users have gone crazy over the photos of the oddly calm man. The trident entered the right side of his neck and went all the way to the left. With the trident stuck in his throat, he travelled 65 kilometers from Kalyani to NRS Medical College in Kolkata.
The young man arrived at the hospital bloodied in the early hours of November 28. After seeing Ram, the medical personnel were stunned.
Bhaskar Ram’s case has now become a medical wonder, as surprisingly, no organs, veins or arteries were damaged by the trident. Internally, there was no major damage.
A complex surgical procedure was performed at the state-run Kolkata hospital to remove the trident. Dr. Pranabasis Bandyopadhyay, an associate professor and specialist at the Department of Eye-Nose-Throat (ENT), led the operation.
After seeing the trident in Ram’s neck, his sister lost consciousness.
The doctors reported that Mr Ram was unbelievably calm before the operation despite having traveled so much in such a state. The cause of his injury is still unclear. Currently, he is recovering well and is expected to make a full recovery.
Families have worshipped the 150-year-old trident for generations on the altar in Mr Ram’s house, according to family members.
