Karthik Meiyappan: Sometimes, bowlers can produce something magical in T20 cricket, despite the format being a little more favorable to batters. Karthik Meiyappan claimed a hat-trick in the T20I Round 1 match between Sri Lanka and UAE at Geelong on Tuesday.
Meiyappan picked up three wickets on the 4th, 5th, and 6th deliveries of the 15th over to pull UAE back in the game.
On the fourth ball of the 15th over, Meyiappan caught Bhanuka Rajapaksa taking the aerial route.
The wicket-keeper caught Charith Asalanka behind for a golden duck. Three wickets were taken in three balls by the leg-spinner against Dasun Shanka.

Chennai-born Meiyappan etched his name in history books with his hat-trick.
A player from an associate team has now taken a hat-trick against a Test team in a men’s World Cup. As far as men’s T20Is are concerned, he is also UAE’s first hat-trick taker.
Five players have now taken hat-tricks in the history of T20 World Cups. The other four bowlers to take three wickets in three consecutive deliveries in T20 World Cups are Brett Lee (2007), Curtis Campher (2021), Wanindu Hasaranga (2021) and Kagiso Rabada (2021).
