Veteran Actor Krishna: Veteran Telugu actor Krishna died on Tuesday at a private super-specialty hospital in the city, where he was undergoing treatment after suffering a heart attack.
He was 80.
Superstar Mahesh Babu’s father Sri Krishna was admitted to the hospital in the early hours of Monday and put on a ventilator.
A multi-disciplinary team of doctors was treating him after the cardiac arrest. Hospital sources said that the actor passed away at 4 am on Tuesday.
Sri Krishna, originally Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, had acted in 350 films and was one of the top actors of his time. He was also a successful director and producer. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2009.
Sri Krishna was also the father-in-law of TDP leader Jai Galla. He had joined the Congress and became an MP in the 1980s but left politics after the death of former PM Rajiv Gandhi.
His wife and Mahesh Babu’s mother Indira Devi passed away in September this year. His elder son Ramesh Babu died in January. His second wife actress Vijaya Nirmala passed away in 2019.
