Verified Twitter: Next week, Twitter will launch its refreshed account verification program. Elon Musk said “Verified” will launch next Friday. He tweeted, “Sorry for the delay, we’re tentatively launching Verified next Friday.”

Depending on the account’s category, the verified badge will have different colors.

A gold check will be issued to companies, a gray check to government, and a blue check to individuals (celebrities or not). All verified accounts will be manually authenticated before the check is activated, Musk said.

Mr Musk said that all verified individuals will have the same blue check, since determining what constitutes noteworthy would otherwise be subjective.

Those who are verified as belonging to an organization can have a secondary tiny logo showing that affiliation.

In a report by The Verge, Musk described the current multi-coloured verification system as “painful, but necessary”, adding that a “longer explanation” would be released next week.
