Uttarakhand Murder Case: Expelled BJP leader Vinod Arya, the father of the main accused in the alleged murder of 19-year-old resort receptionist Ankita Bhandari, defends his son as a simple boy.
Talking to reporters, he said, “Pulkit was living separately from him for a long time. To ensure a fair investigation, I have resigned from the BJP. My son Ankit has also resigned.
The BJP on Saturday expelled Vinod Arya and his son from the party, a day after the leader’s second son was arrested in connection with the murder of Ankita Bhandari at a resort in Uttarakhand’s Pauri. The brother of the accused was also removed by the government from the post of Deputy Chairman of the State OBC Commission.
‘Son needs justice Ankita’
Claiming his son’s innocence, former BJP leader Vinod Arya said, “My son is a simple child and he is only concerned about his work. I want justice for both my son Pulkit and the girl who was murdered.”
Vinod Arya also said that his son would never indulge in such activities. He also denied allegations that a case of cheating and forgery was registered against Pulkit in 2016. The former BJP leader denied all the charges leveled against his son prior to Pulkit’s arrest.
Uttarakhand Murder Case: Significantly, a case of cheating and forgery was registered against Pulkit under sections 420 and 468 of the IPC in Haridwar in 2016.
The owner of the resort Pulkit Arya was arrested on Friday along with resort manager Saurabh Bhaskar and assistant manager Ankit Gupta. Ankita used to work as a receptionist in the same resort. A WhatsApp chat of the victim with a close friend of hers has surfaced where she said that she was being pressurized by the accused to provide ‘special service’ to the customers at the resort.
A source said that Pulkit remained in controversies even during the pandemic lockdown. He reached the restricted area of Uttarkashi along with Amarmani Tripathi, a controversial leader of Uttar Pradesh. Tripathi is accused of killing a woman and has been in jail for 14 years for murder.
When asked that his son sexually assaulted the victim, Vinod Arya denied the allegations and said that these are all false statements.
Ankita bhandari murder case
In protest against the alleged murder of Ankita Bhandari, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami ordered a SIT probe into the incident and said that the accused would be given “severe punishment”. Now the SIT team probing the case will now investigate the WhatsApp chat of Kishor. Police recovered the body of the receptionist in the early hours of Saturday from the Chila canal, where the accused had allegedly dumped it.
