Twitter Reactions on Indias’ Victory: The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma won a dramatic match against Bangladesh in Adelaide. With their nail-biting win over their neighbours, the Men in Blue top the points table. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul led India to 184 runs in a rain-affected match.
Litton Das played one of the most impressive innings of the tournament as Bangladesh made a rollicking start to their chase after posting a daunting total. In just 21 deliveries, the stylish batsman raced to a half-century against the Indian bowlers.
As the rain intervened in Adelaide, Litton was decimating the opposing bowlers. As a result of the lengthy rain delay, Bangladesh’s innings was reduced to 16 overs with a revised target of 151 runs. KL Rahul’s moment of magic at the break halted Litton’s breathtaking innings of 60 in just 27 deliveries for Rohit Sharma’s men.
As the pressure told on the Bangladeshi batters, the Indian bowlers changed the momentum of the game and probably the outcome by dismissing four batters for just nine runs in the space of just 11 deliveries after the rain delay.
With a double wicket over, young Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh opened the floodgates for his side. With another double-wicket over, Hardik Pandya ended Bangladesh’s chances of winning. The Men in Green put up a valiant fight, setting up a tense finish. The Indian bowlers, however, kept their cool in a dramatic finish to secure a great victory.
India was led by a record-breaking Virat Kohli
Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and decided to bowl first at the Adelaide Oval, inviting the Men in Blue to bat first. After dismissing the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma cheaply in the fourth over, the Men in Green drew first blood. Taskin Ahmed bowled a superb opening spell and was unlucky not to get a wicket.
Having started the powerplay sedately, India accelerated after the youngster’s bowling spell ended. On his way to a brisk half-century off just 32 deliveries, KL Rahul was the aggressor initially. After removing Rahul in the tenth over, Bangladeshi skipper breathed a sigh of relief.
The Bangla Tigers’ joy was short-lived, as Suryakumar Yadav, the No.1 batter in T20Is, walked into the middle and appeared ready to take the game. As Virat Kohli kept the scoreboard ticking from the other end, his 16-ball 30 provided the impetus to the Indian innings. After Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed, the former Indian captain went into overdrive.
After scoring his third half-century of the tournament, Kohli became the leading run scorer in T20 World Cup history, equaling Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most half-centuries in World Cup matches. As India posted 184 runs off just six deliveries, Kohli was assisted by Ravichandran Ashwin’s quickfire 13.
