Cash found in car Jharkhand Congress MLAs: Police in West Bengal’s Howrah district today seized a “large amount of cash” from a car in which three Congress MLAs from Jharkhand were traveling, leading to allegations of political “horse-trading”. Police said the trio—Irrfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachhap and Naman Bixal Kongari—have been detained for questioning about the source of the money, and that note counting machines will have to be used to determine the exact amount.

His car, a Toyota Fortuner SUV, had a board written ‘Jamtara Vidhayak’, which is Irfan Ansari. Mr. Kachhap is the MLA from Khijri, Mr. Kongari is from Kolebira. There was no response from his side so far, but the Congress said he was given money by the BJP to topple the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Congress coalition government. Jharkhand Congress working president Bandhu Tirkey told news agency ANI, “It is in the nature of the BJP to try to destabilize any government that is not theirs.”
Jharkhand BJP leader Aditya Sahu, however, alleged that the money was evidence of JMM-Congress corruption. “Since they came to power, corruption is on the rise. They use public money for other purposes,” he told the news agency.
Political questions were also shot from Bengal. In a tweet, the ruling Trinamool Congress referred to “horse-trading murmurs and a possible collapse of the Jharkhand government”. Chief Minister and Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee recently accused the BJP of trying to force a change of government in Jharkhand after the recent turnaround in Maharashtra. BJP did not give any specific reaction to this.
Some leaders of the Bengal government – shocked by the plethora of cash recovered from an aide of recently arrested party leader Partha Chatterjee – also questioned the Enforcement Directorate (ED) asking whether action would be taken against those who were not from the Trinamool. Huh. Minister Shashi Panja shared a video tweeted by a journalist and wrote, “ED, are you taking notes or the matter is not serious enough?”
Trinamool alleges that the BJP is selectively targeting it through central government agencies.
With regard to cash seizure, police said the SUV was intercepted near Panchala village and the money was found in the bag. Swati Bhangalia, Superintendent of Police, Howrah Rural and adjoining Kolkata, said, “We had specific information that a huge amount of money was being transported.”
“We have prepared the details and are seeking details and proof about cash from three MLAs of Jharkhand. Counting of amount and other legal formalities will be followed,” he said.
It is being told that there were two other passengers including the driver in the car. Cash found in car Jharkhand Congress MLAs.
