This is a painful incident. The government will make sure that those injured are treated as soon as possible. It’s a serious incident, and instructions were issued to investigate from every angle. Those found guilty will be severely punished,” he said.

Approximately 170 km north of Bhubaneswar, PM Modi landed in an Air Force helicopter near the site of the incident at Bahanaga Bazar Station. To meet the survivors of the crash, he visited the Balasore District Hospital. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Railway Minister, and Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Education Minister, were seen inspecting the site with the PM.

From the site, the Prime Minister spoke with the Cabinet Secretary and Health Minister. In a statement, officials said he asked them to make sure the injured and their families receive all the assistance they need.

Moreover, PM Modi said special care should be taken to ensure that bereaved families do not face inconvenience and those affected continue to receive assistance.

In connection with the accident, PM Modi convened a meeting earlier today.

At 7 p.m. on Friday, one of the train’s coaches derailed in Balasore, causing three trains to collide.

Several trains were involved in the crash, including the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, and a goods train.

Mamata Banerjee is also visiting the state to assess the situation and meet injured patients. Naveen Patnaik, her Odisha counterpart, also visited Balasore this morning and reviewed the situation with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Railways spokesperson Amitabh Sharma said today that the rescue operation for the horrific train accident is complete, and restoration work has begun.

During the crash, one train rammed so hard into the other that carriages were lifted high into the air, twisted, and then smashed off the tracks. Another carriage had been thrown entirely onto its roof, crushing the passenger section. Two trains carried more than 3,400 passengers, according to railway officials.

A high-level investigation has been ordered into how the accident occurred. In compensation for those who died, the ministry has announced 10 lakhs, and 2 lakhs for those who were seriously injured. As part of the PM’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF), Modi has also announced compensation of two lakh rupees for the families of the dead and fifty thousand rupees for the injured.
