India’s Predicted XI vs Pakistan: As the T20 World Cup campaign begins on Sunday, Team India will face Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The question is whether India’s plans for the playing XI will be altered if the weather turns bad on Sunday? In the second T20I against Australia earlier this year, India fielded seven batters, including Rishabh Pant, but due to a wet outfield, the match was reduced to eight overs per side. Mohammed Shami would also pose a selection headache.
Here is our prediction for India’s playing XI against Pakistan
KL Rahul has been in fine form heading into the World Cup, scoring 74 against Western Australia in a practice game and then 57 against Australia in a warm-up match.
Despite not scoring big scores consistently, Rohit Sharma can provide a flying start at the top and also play the waiting game if wickets fall quickly at the other end.
Kohli: The batter with 71 international tons has found his mojo in the shortest format, and he can play both waiting and attacking.
Possibly the best T20 batter around at the moment, Suryakumar Yadav holds the key to India consistently posting big scores on the board. The No.2 ranked batter in ICC T20I rankings, Suryakumar would hope to be the X-factor India desperately needs.
In terms of both bat and ball, Hardik Pandya has been in fine form. However, everyone is wondering if he can bowl four overs in every match.
The 37-year-old Karthik is known as a “cameo batter” by former India player Sanjay Manjrekar due to his ability to attack the bowling from ball one.
Left-arm spinner Axar Patel can bowl with the new ball as well as the old ball. With the bat, he is more than handy and can hit crucial boundaries.
Off late, Bhuvneshwar has not been at the top of his game. However, in Australia, where the ball can swing, Bhuvneshwar holds the key as he can take wickets in powerplays.
It is clear from the one over the pacer bowled during the warm-up against Australia that he has not played an international T20I since last year’s World Cup. With Harshal Patel struggling to control run flow, Shami could be the answer for India’s problems at the death. He can bowl at the start and at the death.
In addition to his knack for delivering yorkers at crucial moments of the game, Arshdeep Singh is a capable opener as well.
Chahal will enjoy flighting up the ball with larger boundaries at play and enjoying the air he’ll allow it to create.
