Suryakumar Yadav Reaches Career-High Rating In ICC Rankings

Suryakumar Yadav continues to rack up awards, reaching a new career-high rating on the updated ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings. The exciting right-hander maintained his healthy lead at the top of the T20I rankings for batters after he smashed a quickfire 47 during the first match of India’s ongoing series against New Zealand in Ranchi. The 32-year-old played a more composed knock of 26 not out in the second match of the series, but dropped back to 908 rating points.

The third and deciding match of the series will be in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

It also means Suryakumar is still within striking distance of England batter Dawid Malan for the highest rating of all time in men’s T20I.

In Cape Town in 2020, Malan had a rating of 915 points, but Suryakumar now has the second-highest rating for T20I batters.

His 239 runs from six matches at last year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup earned him top ranking for current batters. Just last month, he won the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award.

In the latest set of T20I rankings, Suryakumar dominates much of the talk, but a host of New Zealand players have made the biggest moves for batters and bowlers.

After his unbeaten half-century against India, Kiwi opener Finn Allan jumps eight spots to 19th on the list for batters, while teammate Daryl Mitchell moves nine spots to 29th.

Probably the most eye-catching move has been that of fellow Kiwi Mitchell Santner, who has impressed with both bat and ball.

In the second match, Santner top-scored for New Zealand with 19 and collected two wickets with his left-arm orthodox spin.

He’s up two places to ninth overall on the latest rankings for T20I bowlers, and up five spots to 23rd on the updated rankings for all-rounders.

After returning from a long-term injury against South Africa, exciting England pacer Jofra Archer re-entered the ODI rankings at 35.

It’s been South Africa that’s dominated the first two ODIs of that series, with Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen among the better performers.

On the latest list of ODI batters, Bavuma improved 27 spots to 49th overall after hitting a brilliant century in Bloemfontein’s second match of the series.

With his century in the series opener, van der Dussen has closed the gap on Pakistan skipper Babar Azam at the top of the ODI rankings.

With Van Der Dussen’s rating up from 766 to 795, Babar’s lead at the top is down to just 92 points over the second-placed South African.
