Sri Lankan cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka, who was with the national team for the T20 World Cup in Australia, was arrested on charges of sexual assault, team sources said.
According to reports, Gunathilaka, 31, was arrested and taken to Sydney City police station in the early hours of Sunday following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault on November 2.

“Daushka Gunathilaka has been arrested for alleged rape. According to a source close to the Sri Lankan team, the team has left Australia without him.
After losing to England on Sunday, the Sri Lankan team was eliminated from the tournament.
In the ongoing T20 World Cup, the left-handed batter was out for a duck against Namibia in the first round.
Despite qualifying for the Super 12 stage, he was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. The Lankan team finished fourth in Group 1.
An unnamed Sri Lankan national has also been arrested, according to the New South Wales police website.

A 29-year-old woman was sexually assaulted at a Rose Bay residence earlier this week, according to the website.
After communicating with the man through an online dating application for a number of days, it is alleged that the man sexually assaulted the woman on Wednesday 2 November 2022.
During ongoing investigations, police examined a crime scene yesterday in Rose Bay. Following further inquiries, a 31-year-old man was arrested at a hotel on Sussex Street, Sydney, shortly before 1am today (Sunday 6 November 2022).
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is yet to issue a statement on the matter.
