Sonia Gandhi Joins Bharat Jodo Yatra: Sonia Gandhi today joined her son Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in Karnataka, attending a public event after a long gap forced by health concerns.
After joining Rahul Gandhi’s march in Mandya, the Congress president walked a short distance, surrounded by a large crowd of slogan-shouting party workers, before getting into a car.

He is expected to address a rally in Ballari to cement the ranks of the party in the BJP-ruled state that will vote for the new government in a few months. She had earlier visited a temple in Begur village and offered prayers on Wednesday.
The Congress tweeted a picture of his mother tying her shoelaces during Rahul Gandhi’s outing, titled “Maa (Mother)”.
The Congress’s nationwide campaign, which began in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari on 7 September, entered Karnataka on 30 September.
Sonia Gandhi reached Mysore on Monday afternoon. This is his first public visit since a Covid infection earlier this year. He last participated in a road show in Varanasi in 2016.
Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar said that Sonia Gandhi’s participation in the march is a matter of pride for the party.
“After Vijayadashami, there will be Vijaya (victory) in Karnataka. We are proud that Sonia Gandhi has come to roam the streets of Karnataka. We are coming to power in the state, and the BJP is on the verge of shutting down its shop,” said Mr. Sivakumar. Targeting the ruling party over allegations of corruption and bribery, he said.
Rahul Gandhi plans to walk 3,570 km through 12 states in his campaign to “unify India” and send a message against the “divisive politics” of the BJP. The campaign, for which Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders are sleeping in containers, is aimed at rallying party workers after several defeats.
Gandhi’s march for unity comes at a time when the Congress is battling rifts and preparing for a historic internal election that will give birth to a non-Gandhi party president after 25 years.
The Gandhi family has resolved to stay away from elections and has refused to support Shashi Tharoor or Mallikarjun Kharge. Mr Kharge, who is close to the Gandhi family, is widely touted as the next Congress president, although the party insists there is no “official” candidate.
