In December 2020, 26-year-old Shraddha Walkar was hospitalized in Vasai near Mumbai. It is the latest example of a toxic relationship that ended in murder.

According to the doctor, she had suffered severe back pain, trauma, and “internal injuries,” which may have been caused by a fall at home or violent abuse.
The patient had spondylosis and trauma. According to Shivprasad Shinde, the doctor who treated her at Ozone multispecialty hospital, she had no external injuries but only internal ones.
Dr Shinde told NDTV that she never returned for follow-up treatment.
The hospital report listed “severe back pain, nausea, neck pain, difficulty moving the neck, and tingling and numbness in the lower limbs”.
According to Shraddha’s friends, she was a victim of domestic violence.
Months before she was killed, her college friend Rajat Shukla told IndiNews about her SOS.
Rajat Shukla told NDTV that the woman told her best friend that she had been physically abused. Since we were in the same circle of friends, we were informed of the abuse.
Three years ago, Shraddha met Aftab Poonawala on the dating app Bumble. There was a lot of fighting between them.
He kept her body in a 300-litre fridge at his rented apartment in South Delhi’s Chhatarpur after strangling Shraddha over expenses on May 18.
Leaving home at 2 am every night for 18 days, he allegedly dumped the body parts in a nearby forest.
Shraddha was often assaulted by Aftab, according to Rajat Shukla. She shared the beatings with her best friend. However, she continued to remain with him. She said she wanted to leave him but she didn’t,” he said.
In 2015, Mr Shukla met Shraddha in college and said she feared for her life. In order to avoid being found dead, she (Shraddha) asked her childhood friend to rescue her.
