The Mahadev app, which provides a platform for illegal betting, is expected to lead to questions for Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.

A case involving a gaming app has been filed against Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). In connection with the Mahadev app, which is allegedly used to place illegal bets, some of these stars will be questioned.

An agency that investigates financial frauds has requested two weeks’ notice from Ranbir Kapoor to appear. Today, Shraddha Kapoor is not expected to appear before them.

Huma Qureshi, Kapil Sharma, and Hina Khan are also scheduled to appear in court in the Mahadev app case, sources said yesterday. The agency has also requested two weeks’ time for them to appear.

There is no formal charge against the celebrities in the case, but they will be questioned about how and why they were allegedly paid by the app’s promoters.

The agency claims that Ranbir Kapoor received a large amount of money from the proceeds of a crime, while promoting the Mahdev app.

Charges against Mahadev App

According to the ED, Mahadev is an umbrella syndicate that provides online platforms for illegal betting websites to enrol new users, create user IDs and launder money through benami bank accounts.

It is prohibited to bet on online games according to the latest rules. Founded by Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal from Bhilai in Chhattisgarh, the company operates from Dubai. Approximately 200 crore was earned per day by four to five such apps, according to the probe agency.

In India, they spend a lot of money advertising their betting websites to attract new users and franchise seekers, according to the ED.

In Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bhopal, raids were conducted last month in connection with the Mahadev betting app, and assets worth 417 crore were seized.

A 200-crore wedding in the UAE in February, which was entirely paid in cash, had triggered the ED’s investigation into the Mahadev app.
