In a statement, the Samajwadi Party announced Vinay Tiwari as its candidate for the Gola Gokarnnath bye-election.
A notification for the by-election was issued by the Election Commission on October 7.
There is a deadline of October 14 for filing nominations. On October 15, nominations will be scrutinized, and nominations can be withdrawn until October 17.
The ECI announced that voting will take place on November 3 and counting will take place on November 6.
BJP MLA Arvind Giri died in the Gola Gokarnnath assembly constituency, necessitating a by-election.
According to a party leader, Mr Giri died of a cardiac arrest on September 6.
In a statement made by party leaders, Mr Giri (65) was in his car traveling from Lucknow to Sidhauli when he felt uneasy and was taken to a hospital there.
Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Giri was elected to three consecutive terms from Hyderabad assembly constituency in Lakhimpur Kheri district in 1996, 2022, and 2007. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) then elected him from Gola Gokarnnath in 2017 and 2022.
