As of today, Odisha police haven’t found any criminal link between the deaths of two Russian citizens at the same hotel in the state within two days.

Local media reports said Pavel Antov and Vladimir Bidenov died two days apart at the same hotel in Odisha’s Rayagada district, triggering suspicion of a hit-job. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s critics have also died in similar ways in Russia.
According to reports, Pavel Antov, a lawmaker in Russia, recently criticized Russian attacks on Ukraine, but later retracted the statement. Two days after his fellow traveler was found dead, he fell from the third floor of his hotel.
The body of Pavel Antov, 65, was found in a pool of blood outside a hotel on Saturday, police said. They suspected suicide because Mr Antov was depressed after his friend died.
Mr Antov’s co-traveler Vladimir Bidenov was found dead at the same hotel on December 22. A few empty wine bottles were found around him in his room on the first floor of the hotel.
Doctors declared him dead when he got to the hospital.
In Odisha, we lost two of our citizens in a tragedy. Pavel Antov, a member of the Vladimir Oblast Legislative Assembly, was one of them. The Russian embassy in India told IndiNews they are in constant contact with the family and the local authorities. Police don’t yet see a criminal element in these tragic events,” they said.
On Wednesday, Vladimir Bidenov and Pavel Antov, along with their guide Jitendra Singh, checked into a hotel in Rayagada town with four other Russian tourists.
PTI reported that a senior police officer said Pavel Antov died of suicide, citing a police officer.
Pavel was depressed after his friend died, he said.
The officer asked two other members to stay back and coordinate with the investigation.
