Following a dominant performance in the two-match Test series, Team India is once again favourites for the three-match ODI series, which begins on Thursday. West Indies swept their last ODI series against the Caribbean Islands 3-0, despite the absence of some big names.
As Rohit Sharma’s side prepares for the series, Ravindra Jadeja looks to reach a major milestone. The Indians vs West Indies ODI series is just four wickets away from being won by Jadeja.
With 41 wickets in 29 matches, he is joint-third on the list with Anil Kumble. With 43 wickets, Kapil Dev leads the Indian wicket-taker list, while Courtney Walsh leads the Windies with 44.
Mohammed Siraj flew back with the rest of the Test returnees ahead of the first ODI. The management decided not to call up a backup player for the series.
As of Thursday, India have not named a replacement for Siraj for the three-match ODI series starting in Bridgetown, Barbados.
A five-for (5/60) was also claimed by Siraj in the second Test against the West Indies.
Having rested Siraj, India’s pace attack now consists of Jaydev Unadkat, Umran Malik, Shardul Thakur, and uncapped Mukesh Kumar (in ODIs).
There will be no selection for Siraj for the upcoming white-ball tour of Ireland and he will join the team for the Asia Cup, which is being held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
