Following the emergence of a deepfake video of Rashmika Mandanna on social media, actor Amitabh Bachchan has demanded legal action. The video shows a woman entering a lift wearing a black outfit. The actress’s face has been morphed and edited to look like hers.
The fact that several internet users claimed the video was fake raises questions about the speed at which “unreliable” information is spreading on the web. The video was reposted by Mr Bachchan, who said “yes, this is a strong case for legal action.”
In the original video, Zara Patel is a British-Indian woman with a massive social media following. The video had been uploaded on October 9 by Ms Patel. The edited version of Ms Mandanna is extremely difficult to spot in the video, so social media users are more likely to fall for it. On close examination, one can observe that the woman’s face changes to that of the actress from the film ‘Goodbye’ as soon as she enters the lift.
The same has not yet been reacted to by Rashmika Mandanna.
As a result, many people were shocked to see this and demanded that the authorities take action.
