Meera Kuntal: On Sunday, a schoolteacher in Rajasthan changed gender and married one of her students.
A physical education teacher at Bharatpur fell in love with Kalpana Fouzdar and underwent a sex change operation to marry her.
“Love is fair, so I changed my gender,” Meera, now Aarav Kuntal, told reporters.
During physical education classes at the school, Meera met Kalpana. In January, Kalpana will travel to Dubai for an international kabaddi tournament.
During their interactions on the school playground, Aarav fell in love with Kalpana, but he had always wanted to be a boy. He said, “I was born a girl, but I always thought I was a boy. I had my first surgery in December 2019 to change my gender.”
Kalpana, the bride, said she had been in love with Aarav for a long time and would have married him even if he hadn’t undergone surgery.
Kalpana says, “I loved him from the start. Even if he hadn’t had this surgery, I would’ve married him. I went with him to the surgery.”
Despite being unconventional and still rare in India, their parents have accepted their marriage.
