BCCI secretary Jay Shah had said that canceling the fifth Test was a decision made by both the BCCI and the ECB.
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have decided to cancel the 5th Test Match that was supposed to take place in Manchester during India’s tour of England in 2021. The BCCI and the ECB met several times to try to find a way to play the Test Match. However, when Covid-19 broke out in the Indian team, the Old Trafford Test Match had to be canceled. Because of how well BCCI and ECB get along. BCCI has asked ECB to reschedule the Test match that was canceled. Both Boards will try to find a time to play this Test match again”, the BCCI said in a statement.
