A major overhaul is expected by the Preity Zinta & Ness Wadia co-owned franchise Punjab Kings ahead of IPL 2023, as they are set to release some big names before the mini-auction in December, along with appointing a new captain, a new coach, and new members of the support staff.
According to reports, Punjab Kings are set to release their last year’s captain Mayank Agarwal (12 crores), Tamil Nadu batter Shahrukh Khan (9 crores), and West Indies all-rounder Odean Smith (6 crores) in order to expand their overall purse.
Cricbuzz reports that English all-rounder Ben Stokes, Australian Cameron Green, and English all-rounder Sam Curran are all interested in playing in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League, and Punjab Kings are seeking to select two of them to form the core of their team.
To focus on Test cricket, Stokes skipped the 2022 edition of the cash-rich league. Recently, he announced his retirement from 50-over cricket and plans to participate in the tournament in 2023.
After missing the 15th edition of the tournament due to an injury, Curran is set to return. Lately, Green has impressed everyone with both his bat and ball performances.

On December 16, the IPL mega auction will take place, but the venue has not yet been determined. By November 15, franchises must submit a list of their retained and released players.
