Popular Front of India PFI: A member of the Popular Front of India (PFI) has been arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad of the Uttar Pradesh Police, who was allegedly planned by the Bihar Police to create disturbances during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rallies in the state.

According to a statement issued by the force, Patna’s Senior Superintendent of Police had sought the cooperation of the Uttar Pradesh ATS in arresting Nooruddin Jangi alias “Advocate” Nooruddin, a resident of Darbhanga in Bihar, in a case registered at Phulwarisharif. ATS arrested Jangi on Saturday from near a metro station located in Alambagh police station area.

According to Bihar Police, Jangi and his associates had allegedly planned to create disturbances during PM Modi’s scheduled rallies in Bihar.

The accused confessed during interrogation that he had come in contact with the PFI Darbhanga district president in 2015 and has been associated with the organization since then.

Jangi had contested the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections from Darbhanga constituency.

During interrogation he said that he is living in Lucknow and is arranging legal aid for the PFI members.

According to the statement of ATS, Bihar Police is taking further action in the matter.

He said that the accused is a resident of Darbhanga and he has done LLB from CN Law College, Darbhanga in 2017.  

“He was involved in the training of PFI members in Patna. But his main job was to provide legal aid to PFI and SDPI members lodged in various jails across India.

For the last few days, he was staying at Musafirkhana in Charbagh, Lucknow for the same reason.

To note, Bihar Police has already arrested two people identified as Athar Parvez and Mohammad Jalaluddin in connection with the case.
