India’s first semi-high speed regional rail service, Namo Bharat, was inaugurated today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Uttar Pradesh.
In Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister inaugurated the train connecting Sahibabad and Duhai Depot.
India has launched its Regional Rapid Train Service (RRTS).
The Prime Minister’s office (PMO) described Namo Bharat as a “transformational” regional development initiative for intercity commuting.
NaMo Bharat replaced RapidX as the rail service’s name yesterday.
On the day after the corridor’s inauguration, passengers will be able to use the 17-km priority section.
Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot are the stations on the priority section between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot.
In addition to overhead storage and Wi-Fi, RRTS trains offer charging options and overhead storage. Furthermore, a press release stated that a premium-class car would feature spacious seating, ample legroom, and coat hangers.
Among the safety features of this train are CCTV cameras, an emergency door-opening mechanism, and a communication button.
As per the PMO, the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor will make it possible for Delhi to reach Meerut in less than an hour via Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar. This corridor will cost more than Rs 30,000 crore.
