With effect from Monday, passengers with a single name on passport travelling on tourist, visit, or any other type of visa are not allowed to travel to or from UAE.
Therefore, both first and last names must be clearly stated.
As per UAE authorities’ instructions, passengers with a single name on their passports travelling on a tourist, visit, or any other type of visa will not be able to travel to/from UAE starting 21st November 2022.
According to the statement from the low-cost carrier, the authorities of UAE also said that, however, passengers with single names on passports and in possession of a residence permit or permanent visa may travel if the same name is updated in the columns for “first name” and “surname”.
However, passengers with a single name on their passports and in possession of a residence permit or employment visa may travel if they update their “First Name” and “Surname” columns.

Indians without full name on passport will be banned from flying to UAE
In order to travel to and from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Indian citizens must have both a primary and secondary name in their passport.
Airlines have reportedly banned Indians with only their first names on their passports from flying from the country’s airports.
As of Monday, November 21, this rule is in effect.
Indian airlines, including Spicejet, Air India Express, and Indigo, have notified travel agents of the new rules.
According to IndiGo’s circular sent to travel agents on Monday, passengers whose passports contain only a single name will not be allowed to travel to/from the UAE from 21st November on a tourist, visit or any other type of visa.
For people with a valid residence permit or work visa, this new naming policy will not apply, and the same name will appear in the first column and the surname will be updated.
Travelers with one name on their passports on a tourist/visit visa or any other visa are prohibited from traveling.
All airlines are subject to the new rule, including international airlines.
Despite the new rules being effective immediately, travel agents are asking people to wait for more information before applying for a visa or making any changes to their existing documents.
We are still waiting for information from the embassy regarding this matter. Rayna Tours and Travels advises people to wait 48 hours before applying for a visa,” a representative told Khaleej Times.
According to him, people should wait before making any changes to their documentation since we are still waiting for details.
