A Pakistani national named Qari has been identified as a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba. In this region, he was sent to revive terrorism. The Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO) Jammu said he is an expert in IEDs and cave operations, as well as a trained sniper.

A highly ranked Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist leader, he was trained in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

As well as being the mastermind of the Dangri and Kandi attacks, he has been active in Rajouri-Poonch with his group for the past year.

In Bajimal village, a local Gujjar was beaten by terrorists after denying them food on Wednesday morning, according to sources. Eventually, security forces launched a massive anti-terrorist operation in the area after villagers reported the incident.

Four soldiers were killed and two others were injured when terrorists used terrain and forest to fire heavily at troops.

To prevent terrorists from escaping from the highly forested area where the encounter took place, the area was cordoned off overnight with the help of additional security forces.

As troops surround terrorists in the forest area, senior army commanders are supervising the operation.

At first, officials believed two terrorists were involved in the encounter, but given how long it has lasted, they now believe there may be more.

Three of the dead soldiers were Special Forces commandos, highlighting how officers always lead from the front during counter-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir. During an anti-terrorist operation in Kokernag forests in Anantnag district, a commanding officer, a major, and a DySP were killed.

After largely being free of terrorism since 2003, the Rajouri-Poonch stretch of Pir Panjal forest experienced frequent encounters with terrorism in 2021.

There have been over 30 army trooper deaths in the area in the last two years.

Despite protracted operations lasting for weeks, most terrorists have managed to escape from encounters.

Since terrorists have taken advantage of the topography of the forest to conceal their positions over the last few years, the forest has proved to be a challenge for security forces.

The alpine forests, dense jungles, and treacherous mountains are all used by terrorists as hiding places.
