A sedition case was filed by the police in August this year against Sharif, President of ARY Digital Network, Salman Iqbal, Head of News Content and Current Affairs Ammad Yusuf, anchor Khawar Gumman, and producer. There was controversy surrounding an interview with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill. This interview was broadcast on August 8.

As a result of ‘negative reports received from agencies’, the Home Ministry canceled the channel’s ‘no objection certificate’ a day later.

Sindh High Court reversed this decision, however.

However, Arshad Sharif left Pakistan.

Following the removal of Imran Khan from power, Arshad Sharif began criticizing the Pakistani army.

ARY clarified a few days after Arshad Sharif left for abroad that he is no longer associated with the company. No reasons were given by the company. The company simply stated that it expects its employees to express their views on social media based on the company’s policy.
