Salman Khan Y+ Security: As a result of recent threats against Salman Khan allegedly by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the Maharashtra government has decided to upgrade his security cover to Y+ grade. The 12 armed cops he was given under ‘X’ security will now include commandos.
Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher have been granted ‘X’ category security.
Salman Khan was threatened in July, two months after men allegedly backed by Lawrence Bishnoi killed Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala near his village in Mansa district, Punjab.
Salim Khan, Salman Khan’s father, found the threat on a paper chit left on a bench where he sat after his morning walk. It threatened to “do what we did to Moose Wala”, saying, “Salim Khan Salman Khan bahut jald aapka Moose Wala hoga.”. The initials GB and LB stand for Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar in Canada.
Last month, the Delhi Police reported that gangsters tried to befriend some of the actor’s staff in order to learn his schedule.
While Lawrence Bishnoi denies any involvement in this “threat chit”, he had threatened to kill Salman Khan some years earlier.
Lawrence Bishnoi told reporters during a court hearing in Jodhpur that Salman Khan had hurt the sentiments of the Bishnois, a sect dedicated to animals. The actor was ultimately acquitted of the charge.
Following a threat perception review, Maharashtra’s Eknath Shinde-BJP government gave Salman Khan ‘Y Plus’ – the fourth highest level of security available in India.
Salman Khan has also had private security for years. Gurmeet Singh alias Shera, who has become a minor celebrity, is his main guard.
