Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi filed a defamation lawsuit against Jacqueline Fernandez and 15 media houses today. Ms Fernandez accused the media of “carrying forward and circulating” her remarks. According to Ms Fatehi, her rival actor and the media organisations “acted in connivance”.

“A conspiracy was hatched, and enacted, by the accused No. 1 (Jacqueline Fernandez) to ensure the complainant’s financial, social, and personal downfall,” she wrote in her petition.

According to the petition, “her rapidly progressing career has threatened her rivals, who are unable to compete with her fairly.”

“In light of the aforementioned rivals’ inability to compete fairly in the industry, it is becoming increasingly evident that they are attempting to tarnish the complainant’s reputation, thereby causing her to lose her job and opening up opportunities for her rivals,” the complaint states.

Those remark are related to the 200 crore extortion case being investigated by central agencies, in which conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar is the main suspect. As a result of the revelation that Ms Fernandez received expensive gifts from the conman, both actors have been summoned by investigators. Sukesh has also given Fatehi gifts.

As she emerged from the Enforcement Directorate office after recording her statement, she denied receiving any gifts from Sukesh.

She told the Appellate Authority of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, or PMLA, that it is surprising that some other celebrities, including Norah Fatehi, were also conned by Sukesh Chandrashekhar in the case, but while Nora Fatehi and other celebrities who received gifts from Sukesh Chandrashekhar were made witnesses, she was dragged into the case as a defendant.

Jacqueline Fernandez is listed as an accused in the ED’s supplemental chargesheet filed in the extortion case against conman Sukesh in a Delhi Court.

Her name was not mentioned in the earlier chargesheet, but details about the statement recorded by Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi were included.

Ms Fernandez admitted to the ED that Sukesh had arranged her private jet trips and hotel stays many times during Sukesh’s confrontation with her on October 20, 2021.

According to the probe agency, Nora Fatehi said she got a booking for a charity event and was gifted a Gucci Bag and an iPhone by Sukesh’s wife Leena Paulose during the event.

Furthermore, Nora Fatehi had said that Leena Paulose had called her along with her husband and put the phone on speaker, where he thanked her and said they were her fans. As a token of their love, she announced they would gift her a brand-new BMW.

The reputation of any person in the film industry is an asset and any damage to it would be irreparable. Nora Fatehi’s defamation petition states that all of the Accused are aware of this and this proves that their defamation is with mala fide intentions.
