Nitish Tejashwi Meet Governor: Hours after Nitish Kumar marched with Tejashwi Yadav to the Bihar governor’s residence to form the new government, he broke the alliance with the BJP and resigned as chief minister.
Nitish Tejashwi Meet Governor
Nitish Kumar met his MLAs before coming to his decision to leave the BJP for the second time. He met the Governor late in the evening to submit his resignation. After seeing the governor, he told the media, “I have resigned and I have informed my MLAs about it.”
Shortly after, he was seen hanging out with opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav with his brother Tej Pratap – Lalu Yadav’s son – and then meeting the governor a second time to seek a new term as chief minister. Other parties like Congress are expected to join the new alliance.
Senior BJP leaders from Bihar are flying to Patna to discuss the results. These include Sushil Kumar Modi and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. Bihar BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal said in a press conference, “Nitish Kumar has betrayed the people of Bihar and BJP. People will teach him a lesson.”
As Union minister Amit Shah has been working tirelessly to split the Janata Dal (United), tensions broke out between the two parties over concerns of Nitish Kumar.
Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav make Government in Bihar
For this, Nitish Kumar blamed former leader of his own party RCP Singh for serving as Amit Shah’s proxy. RCP Singh quit JD(U) over the weekend as his party accused him of deep corruption.
In 2021, RCP Singh joined the Union Cabinet as a representative of Nitish Kumar’s party. The Chief Minister of Bihar was upset with the offer of only one cabinet post. Yesterday, his close aide said that RCP Singh had decided to join the Center on his own volition and informed Nitish Kumar that Amit Shah had said he was single-handedly acceptable as JDU’s representative in the cabinet, “Will Amit Shah decide our party’s affairs?” Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh said, who is the president of JDU.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal or RJD, the largest party in Bihar, also held a meeting today to discuss the Bihar crisis. Tejashwi Yadav is leading the party. The party is expected to formally announce its support for Nitish Kumar, reviving an earlier alliance with him (the partnership lasted less than three years). According to sources, Tejashwi Yadav will serve as the Deputy Chief Minister in the new government.
Till 2017, Tejashwi Yadav was a minister along with his brother in Nitish Kumar’s government, which had three components: JDU, Lalu Yadav’s party and Congress. Nitish Kumar broke the decades-old relationship with the BJP and formed an alliance with them.
But he accused Tejashwi Yadav and his brother of corruption and used that controversy to end his alliance with ‘secular’ parties and returned to the BJP.
Nitish Kumar is reportedly convinced that Amit Shah wants to replicate the Maharashtra model in Bihar – Uddhav Thackeray was forced to step down as chief minister when a senior leader of his party, Shiv Sena, Eknath Shinde, in partnership with the BJP had incited a huge rebellion. , Eknath Shinde was awarded the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra by BJP.
