In the wake of fresh violence over the Maratha quota issue, the home of Maharashtra MLA Prakash Solanke has been vandalized and set ablaze.

As tensions over the Maratha quota issue continue to escalate, the home of Maharashtra MLA Prakash Solanke in Beed district was vandalized and set ablaze Monday. Manoj Jarange Patil, a pro-quota activist, was reportedly angered by remarks made by the Nationalist Congress Party leader.

A vehicle parked outside Mr Solanke’s house was also damaged by stones thrown by protesters.

For his alleged remarks against the ongoing hunger strike of Maratha protestors, angry protestors pelted stones and torched a vehicle parked at MLA Prakash Solanke’s residence at Majalgaon in Beed. NCP MLA Prakash Solanke was reportedly furious with the crowd after he allegedly insulted Jarange Patil. Ajit Pawar section of the NCP is represented by NCP MLA Prakash Solanke. After the incident unfolded, panic gripped the region.

A huge amount of property was destroyed in the attack on the NCP lawmaker’s home. Fortunately, none of his family members or staff were injured.

A picture shared by ANI showed a large white house completely engulfed in flames and surrounded by a massive plume of black smoke.

As a result of the Maratha quota row protests, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are playing in Pune as part of the cricket World Cup. As a precaution, police are turning back anyone dressed in black, fearing they might make a political statement during the match.

Eknath Shinde, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, has also responded to the attacks by pro-Maratha Reservation protestors. According to Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Manoj Jarange Patil (Maratha reservation activist) should be aware of where this protest is heading. The direction it is going in is the wrong one.”

As well as condemning the attack against a fellow NCP member, MP Supriya Sule also condemned the attack. In his words, the government and the Home Minister of Maharashtra have failed completely. Maharashtra’s triple engine government has failed. How are the Home Ministry and Home Minister responding to today’s fire at an MLA’s house? They are responsible for it.”

3-Member Panel To Look Into Maratha Quota Issue: CM

Eknath Shinde, Maharashtra’s chief minister, announced on Monday that a three-member expert committee will advise the state government on whether to file a curative petition with the Supreme Court over Maratha quotas. Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation is a demand being made by members of the Maratha community.
