National Awards 2023: Droupadi Murmu presented the 69th National Film Awards at New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan today. Allu Arjun, Alia Bhatt, Gangubai Kathiawadi, The Kashmir Files and Sardar Udham, all of which won multiple awards, were among this year’s National Awards winners, announced in August.

In the Best Feature Film category, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect won. Legendary actress Waheeda Rehman received the highest film award in India, the Dada Saheb Phalke Award.

In her Sabyasachi wedding saree and flowers in her hair, Alia Bhatt collected her Best Actress award. “My only word on my forehead today is gratitude,” Alia said on the red carpet as she accepted the National Award for her performance in and as Gangubai Kathiawadi.

In a similar style to Alia, Kriti Sanon wore a cream saree with flowers in her hair as well. As a surrogate mother in the film Mimi, Kriti shared the Best Actress prize with Alia. In an interview on the red carpet, she described how she felt “blessed and fortunate” to have been able to play such a complex role and that “it felt right” even before filming began.

In his red carpet remarks, Allu Arjun, who won Best Actor for Pushpa: The Rise, said it was a “double achievement” to win for a commercial film. In Pushpa: The Rise, Allu Arjun played the titular gangster, who will reprise the role in Pushpa: The Rule.

He directed Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, which won the award for Best Feature Film. As he walked the red carpet, he said, “My God, it’s been worth it.”.

Dharma Productions CEO Apoorva Mehta and National Award winners Alia Bhatt, Kriti Sanon, Karan Johar left Mumbai ahead of the ceremony. An airport sighting on Monday included Allu Arjun, SS Rajamouli, and MM Keeravaani.
