After a special court sent him to judicial custody until March 20, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia has been moved to Tihar Jail No 1.

After his CBI custody ended, Mr Sisodia was brought into the special court today. He was sent to judicial custody by special judge MK Nagpal after he noted the CBI hadn’t demanded any further custody.
AAP leader can carry medicines prescribed during medical exam. A pair of spectacles, a diary, a pen, and a copy of the Bhagavad Gita are also allowed. The court has directed the jail authorities to consider keeping Mr Sisodia in the meditation cell, as requested by his lawyer.
He’s applying for bail and it’ll be heard on Friday. On February 26, he was arrested and sent to the CBI for five days. Later, the court extended the custody by two days. It’s possible the CBI won’t ask for more custody, sources said.
The 51-year-old says he was mentally harassed by CBI officials asking him the same questions over and over.
As all recoveries in the case have been made, keeping him in custody won’t do him any good. In addition, he said “inefficiency of the agency” can’t justify remand.
CBI says Mr Sisodia was uncooperative and evasive during questioning. His medical exam and bail hearing were also delayed, they say.
As a result of his arrest, the AAP leader approached the top court for relief. But the Supreme Court wouldn’t intervene and told him to go to the High Court. He’s resigned as Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister and given up 18 portfolios.
The liquor policy that was scrapped after Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena recommended a CBI probe involves Mr Sisodia.
The Arvind Kejriwal government was accused of bending rules and giving liquor vend licensees undue benefits.
Delhi’s government rubbished the allegations, saying the BJP abused investigating agencies. In his now-scrapped liquor policy, Mr Kejriwal called it “the most transparent policy in the country”.
