Rajwinder Singh, 38, is accused of killing Toyah Cordingley, 24, at a beach before fleeing to India. Cordingley was killed while walking her dog at Queensland’s Wangetti Beach. Two days later, Singh fled Australia, leaving behind his job, wife and three children.
For information leading to Singh’s arrest, the Queensland Police offered a reward of 1 million Australian dollars, the largest ever offered by the department.
India was requested to extradite Singh by the Australian government in March 2021. In November, the request was approved.
A nursing assistant in Innisfail Town, Singh is originally from Buttar Kalan, Punjab.
Vanessa Gardiner describes Cordingley as “beautiful, spiritual”.
A few months ago, Gardiner was quoted as saying that “Her life was taken way too soon. I see her friends getting married and having kids and think of everything she has missed out on.”
On Monday, she was supposed to start her first full-time job, but that never happened.
On Sunday, October 21, 2018, Cordingley was reported missing. The next morning, her body was found just north of Cairns at Wangetti Beach.
