Liam Livingstone has been ruled out of England’s Test series against Pakistan due to a right knee injury, according to the England Cricket Board (ECB).
On day two of the ongoing first Test in Rawalpindi, the flamboyant batter injured his knee while fielding on the boundary. During Pakistan’s first innings, he didn’t appear on the field. During England’s second innings, he scored an unbeaten 7 but looked extremely uncomfortable.
Livingstone will return to the United Kingdom on Tuesday, December 6, to begin his rehabilitation, according to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). As part of his recovery, he will work closely with the ECB and Lancashire medical team.
According to the ECB’s statement:
A right knee injury has ruled England Men’s all-rounder Liam Livingstone out of the remainder of the Test series against Pakistan. At this stage, England have not decided whether to call up a replacement for him.” He will return to the UK on Tuesday and begin rehab with the ECB and Lancashire medical teams, respectively.
Lancashire’s batter made his Test debut against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, scoring nine runs off ten deliveries in the first innings and remaining unbeaten for seven runs in the second innings. The replacement for Liam Livingstone has not yet been announced, but could be announced in the near future.
