Kozhikode: A popular Malayalam film actor has made a shocking revelation through his post on Instagram that he was sexually abused during a film promotion event at a mall in Kerala’s Kozhikode district.
Expressing its anguish and concern over people’s “sexual frustration”, the post said that another actor had a similar experience during an event held at the busy mall late Tuesday night.
A video of the incident reportedly soon went viral on social media platforms and was broadcast by local TV channels.
“Kozhikode is a place that I loved dearly. But, on my way back after an event tonight, a person from the crowd caught me. I hate to say that people around us are so disappointed? We went to many places. Promotion. But, I have never had such a miserable experience anywhere else. My colleague had a similar experience. He reacted, but I couldn’t in that situation because I was dumbfounded for a moment,” the actor said in last night’s post.
Another actress who was sexually assaulted by the mob also shared her traumatic experience through her Instagram page.
She said the mall was overcrowded and the security personnel were struggling to control the crowd. The actor said that a man misbehaved with one of his co-stars but she could not react.
She added, “Later, I also faced a similar experience, but I reacted. I wish no one should face such unwanted trauma in their life.”
Police said an investigation has been launched and efforts are on to identify and trace those who abused the actors.
A promotional event held at the same mall a month ago had to be shelved as the crowd gathered there to watch their favorite actor went out of control.
