Kerala Human Sacrifice: In Elanthoor village of Pathanamthitta district, two women were allegedly killed and their body parts chopped as part of a ‘human sacrifice’ case.

The matter led to the arrest of three people, including a couple. Bhagaval Singh, a local massage therapist, and his wife Laila (59), both natives of Pathanamthitta, were arrested, as well as Rasheed alias Muhammand Shafi, said to be a ‘traditional healer’ in the area.

On Wednesday, the Ernakulam District Sessions Court remanded the three accused to judicial custody until October 26. This case was described as “human sacrifice done in the name of superstition and black magic” in the remand report filed before the court.

According to police, the couple, Padma and Roslyn, who sold lottery tickets on the streets for their daily bread, were sacrificed to settle their financial issues and bring prosperity into their lives by the accused.

GRUESOME DETAILS OF THE CASE

The deceased’s chopped body parts were exhumed on Tuesday from the couple’s house in Pathanamthitta. According to sources familiar with the investigation, Shafi told the accused couple that eating cooked human body parts would help them preserve their youth.

As part of black magic, Laila testified to the gruesome details of the killing, where the flesh of the victims was eaten after the human sacrifice. Roslyn’s front rib had been removed.

Bhagaval Singh and Laila were advised to eat cooked human body parts by Shafi, the mastermind of the ‘human sacrifice’, sources said.

According to sources, Shafi “got high” while watching blood and the act of mutilation.

Police are yet to determine these details, but sources say Laila seems remorseless and still expects the ‘human sacrifice ritual’ to make them wealthy.

According to police, the story of ‘human sacrifice’ was uncovered based on the mobile phone details and tower locations of the victims.

According to the Kochi City police, a woman named Palaniyamma reported her sister Padma missing on September 26. Padma was from Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu, but had been staying at Kadavanthara in Kochi since August.

She was living with her partner in Kalady for some time when she went missing on June 8. Her daughter filed a missing complaint on August 17.

According to reports, Bhagaval Singh and his wife Laila are traditional massage therapists and healers. Both of them were natives of Thiruvalla. A native of Perumbavoor, Rasheed alias Muhammand Shafi, was suspected of luring and bringing to the couple’s home the now-deceased women for sacrifice, police reported.

In the remand copy of the case filed to the court, it is clearly stated that all three accused committed human sacrifices in the name of superstition and black magic.

In the remand report, it was also stated that Bhagaval Singh and his wife committed the act for better financial conditions and for God’s blessings.

In the remand report, it was also stated that one of the victims, Padma, was offered Rs 15,000 by accused Shafi, which is how she arrived at the house in Elanthoor village around 4 p.m. The report also stated that in the bedroom, Padma had asked the accused for the money which the accused refused to give, which led to issues between the two, and the accused then used a plastic thread on her neck, causing her to fall unconscious.

After Padma was taken to another room in the house, her body was mutilated using sharp weapons, and her throat was also sliced, according to the remand copy. After her body was buried, salt was also sprinkled on it, police said.

Roslyn, who went missing in June, was killed in the same house as part of ‘human sacrifice’. Details about Roslyn’s death are still unknown.

It was also at the same house…by the same couple…and the woman was brought by the same person. The third person played an agent role [in both of these cases] in addition to ensuring the transaction went smoothly. The top police official said on Tuesday that he convinced the couple that this was the right thing to do, adding that the bodies had been buried in pieces and not in one shape.

‘MAIN ACCUSED IS A SEXUAL PERVERT’ | WHAT POLICE SAID ON THE CASE

According to Kerala Police on Wednesday, the main accused, Shafi, used to target people with financial issues and trick them into believing that “human sacrifice is necessary to achieve financial success”.

During our previous questioning of Shafi, the prime accused, we did not find anything. Pathanamthitta was discovered through scientific investigation. According to Kochi City Police Commissioner CH Nagaraju, Shafi is the main perpetrator and a pervert.

A special investigation team will investigate the matter, he said.

Shafi has been charged with rape and attempted murder of a 75-year-old woman, he said, adding that he is essentially a sexual pervert who enjoys causing harm and even death.

All parts of the bodies of the two women who were killed have been recovered. One of the victims’ bodies was recovered from three pits where she was buried,” Kochi City Police Commissioner CH Nagaraju said.

In the same press briefing, Kochi DCP S Sasidharan, chief investigator of the case, said Shafi found Bhagaval Singh and Laila on Facebook and found them interested in human sacrifice. Shafi had used Facebook on his wife’s phone but she didn’t know,” he said.

KERALA CM SAYS ONLY THOSE WITH SICK MINDSET WOULD COMMIT SUCH CRIMES

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed shock over the killings on Wednesday, saying only those with a sick mindset would commit such acts. Witchcraft rituals and black magic can only be seen as a threat to civilized society.

Governor Arif Mohammed Khan also expressed shock and grief over the case of human sacrifice in Elanthur, Patanamthitta district. In a modern, civilized society, such brutality in the name of ritual is unthinkable. I hope to see the culprits charged soon.”

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa slammed the Kerala government over the matter and said its “silence” was “more disgusting” than the case itself.

Sirsa tweeted, “Bhagavanth Singh, a @CPIMKerala official, brutally murdered and buried two women named Roselin and Padma.”

This horrific ‘human sacrifice’ was carried out with the help of his aide Rasheed.

The Kerala government’s silence on this issue is even more disgusting,” he said.
