In an escalating confrontation that has been building up for days, Kerala’s left-led government today removed Governor Arif Mohammad Khan as Chancellor of universities.
Pinarayi Vijayan’s cabinet voted to remove the Governor by ordinance or special order. All nine vice chancellors of the state’s universities were asked to resign by Mr Khan.
In place of the Chancellor, the state cabinet plans to bring in an expert.
