According to officials, a student at a school in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, committed suicide after being beaten up for wearing a bindi.

On Tuesday, NCPCR chairperson Priyank Kanoongo tweeted that a girl student had committed suicide after being beaten up for wearing a bindi to school.
NCPCR has taken cognizance of the matter, and a team will go to Dhanbad to investigate.
Dhanbad’s Tetulmari area was the scene of the incident on Monday. Locals and parents of the deceased girl protested against the school management on Tuesday, prompting police to investigate.
After the incident was revealed, Uttam Mukherjee, Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Dhanbad, Jharkhand, said that the teacher has been arrested by police.
In a tweet reply to NCPCR Chairperson, Mukherjee said, “It is a serious matter. The school is also not affiliated with the CBSE board. I have informed the District Education Officer. The accused has been arrested.”
On Sunday, officials said a student preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) had committed suicide in Rajasthan’s Kota.
A student died by suicide in Mahaveer Nagar in Kota, according to Circle Inspector of Police (CI) Kota Paramjit Singh.
Furthermore, the official stated that the student was preparing for the IIT-JEE when he committed suicide.
