A belligerent double hundred was slammed by India’s diminutive opening batsman Ishan Kishan during India’s third ODI against Bangladesh at Chattogram.
Having replaced Rohit Sharma after he got injured, Kishan slammed 23 boundaries and 9 sixes in just 126 deliveries to reach the 200-run mark in the last match of the series. It took him just 85 balls to reach his century.
By slamming the fastest double century in 50-over cricket, Kishan broke the world record held earlier by West Indies legend Chris Gayle. During the 2015 ICC World Cup, Gayle scored a double century off 138 deliveries. In addition to breaking the 200-run mark in ODIs, Kishan broke the record by a massive 12 deliveries.
After Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma, he is the fourth Indian to score a double century in ODIs. Three of Rohit’s scores have exceeded 200. In the history of ODIs, Ishan has become the 7th batter to score 200 runs in an innings.
Along with the Indians, Martin Guptill, Chris Gayle, and Fakhar Zaman represent New Zealand, West Indies, and Pakistan, respectively.
After slamming 24 boundaries and 10 sixes, Kishan eventually got out for 210 runs.
