As part of the PCB’s announcement, the left-arm pacer, who was out of action due to a knee injury since before the Asia Cup 2022 tournament, will be available for selection in the warm-up matches against England and Afghanistan on 17 and 19 October, when his fitness will be assessed.

I would like to thank the PCB Medical Advisory Committee as well as Crystal Palace Football Club “for their excellent facilities and for taking good care of me during my rehabilitation.”

Having the opportunity to re-join the national side for the T20 World Cup excites me: Shaheen Afridi on news of Shaheen Afridi Is Fit for T20 World Cup

As part of their preparations for the T20 World Cup 2022 against England and Afghanistan, the Pakistan team management will assess Shaheen Afridi’s fitness.

“I’m looking forward to re-joining the national team for the T20 World Cup and contributing to the team’s success. Not being able to participate in some grueling and exciting matches has been a difficult period for me.

My bowling has been trouble-free for the past ten days with a full run-up and pace. Although I have enjoyed bowling and batting in the nets, nothing beats the feel of a match environment, and I am eager to participate in that setting. As Shaheen told PCB website, it has been a challenging and rigorous rehabilitation programme, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it. To be honest, I’m feeling fitter than ever and can’t wait to wear the playing kit,” he said.

At the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 23 October, Pakistan takes on India in their first T20 World Cup match.
