Just seconds before launch, the first test for Gaganyaan’s human space flight mission was conducted. No reason has been given for the launch by the Indian Space Research Organisation.

ISRO chief S Somanath said from the Mission Control Center that the engine ignition did not occur in the expected course due to an anomaly. “We must find out what went wrong. The vehicle is safe,” he said.

According to the Chairman of the space agency, the ground support computer that performs this function has withheld the launch.

Launch of the Test Vehicle D1 mission was originally scheduled for 8 a.m., but it was moved up to 8.45 a.m. Despite this, the countdown stopped just 5 seconds before launch. After identifying the cause, ISRO plans to launch at 10 a.m.

Test vehicle missions are precursors to Gaganyaan programmes that will launch humans into space on 400km orbits for three days and return them safely.

The first test will examine the effectiveness of the crew escape system, which can be used in an emergency to eject astronauts.

Prior to the final manned mission, another test flight will carry a robot into outer space.

According to Union Minister Jitendra Singh, a test flight of Vyommitra, the female robot astronaut, will take place next year before the ultimate manned ‘Gaganyaan’ mission.

A three-member crew will travel in an orbit of 400 km for three days before splashing down in the Indian Ocean as part of this mission.

India will become the fourth nation after the US, Russia, and China to launch a manned space mission.

According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India should set new and ambitious goals, including establishing the Bharatiya Antariksha Station (Indian Space Station) by 2035 and sending the first Indian to the Moon by 2040, to build on the success of Indian space initiatives, including Chandrayan-3 and Aditya L1.
