Shraddha Walker: A 28-year-old man, who allegedly killed his live-in partner in Delhi, kept parts of his body in a refrigerator bought for the purpose and then scattered them one by one in the city’s Mehrauli forest, police sources said today. It is alleged that he used to light incense sticks or incense sticks to combat the stench in the apartment.

He was “inspired” by American crime show ‘Dexter’, the investigators said.
Aftab Amin Poonawalla was arrested on Saturday after his 26-year-old girlfriend Shraddha Walker’s father came to Delhi from Maharashtra and approached the police after alleging kidnapping. Police said interrogation revealed that he had strangled her to death five months ago, on May 18, after an argument, as she insisted that they get married.
He cut the body into 35 pieces and bought a 300-litre refrigerator to keep them, it is alleged.
Over the next 18 days, he reportedly disposed of the pieces in the Mehrauli forest, going out late at night, usually after 2 pm.
The show in this case has elements of the fictional storyline of ‘Dexter’, in which the protagonist is a forensic expert who leads a parallel life as a vigilante serial killer. Police said Aftab was adept at using a meat knife as he was trained as a chef.
The couple met while working together in Mumbai, and moved to Delhi earlier this year, when the woman’s family did not approve of their inter-religious (Hindu-Muslim) relationship. In Delhi, he used to work in a call center of a multinational company and lived in a rented house in Chhatarpur.
Delhi South police in-charge Ankit Chauhan said, “They had a fight over marriage in mid-May, which escalated and he strangled her.”
The woman’s father had come to Delhi from Vasai to look for her when a friend told her that his phone had been switched off for several weeks. The father told the police that the parents and the woman were not talking to each other due to disagreements over their live-in relationship.
The police registered a case of murder and took the accused into custody for five days. Officials said some body parts were recovered from the forest but it was not known whether these were human remains. The knife used by the accused has not been found yet.
