Twelve opposition parties will attend the Bharat Jodo Yatra’s closing function on Monday, sources said. Some parties aren’t coming because of security concerns, they said.

Among the parties skipping the event are the Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, and TDP
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, CPI(M), CPI, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Kerala Congress, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Jambooba Mufti’s Jammu & Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Shibu Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) will be at the function in Srinagar.
On Saturday, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joined Rahul Gandhi for the Yatra, which was cancelled on Friday after an alleged security breach in Chersoo village in Awantipora. Mehbooba Mufti, leader of the People Democratic Party (PDP), also joined the yatra.
No security lapses were reported during the yatra, according to the local police. According to the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of the area, Vijay Kumar, there was no security lapse during the election.
On Friday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to ask for his personal intervention in ensuring adequate security for the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir after Rahul Gandhi’s “security lapse” on January 27.
In addition to the yatra, we’re expecting a big crowd to go to the function on January 30 in Srinagar. “The culmination functions are going to be held on January 30,” Kharge wrote in his letter to Congress leaders and leaders of other important parties.
In his letter to Amit Shah, Congress president Rahul Gandhi asked him to personally intervene in this matter and tell the concerned officials to provide adequate security until the yatra’s culmination and the function on January 30 in Srinagar.
After covering 3,970 km, 12 states, and two union territories in 145 days, the Kanyakumari to Kashmir yatra ends on January 30 in Srinagar.
