According to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, PM Modi’s visit to Shahdol district has been postponed due to heavy rain warnings.

From Bhopal’s Rani Kamlapati railway station in Madhya Pradesh, where Assembly elections are due by the end of the year, Narendra Modi flagged off two Vande Bharat trains — Bhopal to Indore and Bhopal to Jabalpur. Additionally, three Vande Bharat trains were virtually flagged off: the Madgaon (Goa)-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express, the Dharwad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express, and the Hatia-Patna Vande Bharat Express.

On Monday, PM Modi tweeted, “These trains will improve connectivity in Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Bihar, and Jharkhand.”

On the occasion, among others, were Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar and Jyotiraditya Scindia.

After arriving at Bhopal airport, Modi was supposed to reach Rani Kamalapati railway station by helicopter, but bad weather forced him to travel by road, state BJP media in-charge Ashish Agrawal said.

Additionally, the PM will interact virtually with 10 lakh booth-level BJP workers today.

The PM will later meet 3,000 party workers selected from across the country who have helped empower their booths under the party’s “Mera Booth Sabse Majboot” campaign, state BJP president Vishnu Dutt Sharma said.

As a result of warnings of heavy rains, the prime minister has postponed his visit to the tribal-dominated district, the chief minister said.

He said a new date for his visit will be announced soon.

In Shahdol city, the PM was scheduled to attend Veerangana Rani Durgavati Sacrifice Day and the Gaurav Yatra’s closing event.

A road show in Bhopal has also been canceled due to weather conditions, a party leader earlier announced.
