England beats New Zealand: In the third Test between England and New Zealand at Headingley, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow both made unbeaten scores of 86 and 71. This helped England chase down 296 runs with seven wickets left. With this win, England took the series by a score of 3-0. Day 5 of the third Test between England and New Zealand finally started, and Tim Southee got rid of Ollie Pope to give New Zealand a great start. After getting 82, the batter left the field. But Jonny Bairstow’s 50 off 30 balls changed the way the game was going. Earlier, great half-centuries from Ollie Pope and Joe Root put England on track to beat the visiting New Zealanders by 3-0 and win the series.

At the end of Day 4, Pope was still unbeaten with 81 runs and Root was still not out with 55 runs. England needed 113 more runs to win the third and final Test at Headingley and sweep the series. As Day 5 begins, New Zealand will be praying for a miracle because the English are clearly in charge. After beating tough targets of 277 and 299 by five wickets at Lord’s and Trent Bridge, England will be a strong favorite to win the series 3-0 against Test world champion New Zealand.
