Eknath Shinde: From auto driver to Maharashtra CM
Eknath Sambhaji Rao Shinde is an Indian politician who was born on February 9, 1964. He is the 20th Chief Minister of Maharashtra at the moment. Eknath used to be the Government of Maharashtra’s Cabinet Minister of Urban Development and Public Works (Public Undertakings). He is a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from the Kopri-Pachpakhadi seat in Thane. Early Life of Eknath Shinde
Eknath Shinde is from the Maratha community and comes from the Jawali taluka in the city of Satara in the state of Maharashtra. In order to make a living, his family moved to Thane, which is on the edge of Mumbai. Eknath went to Mangala High School and Junior College in Thane until he finished the 11th grade. Shinde used to make money for his family by driving an autorickshaw.
Eknath Shinde’s 11-year-old son Dipesh and 7-year-old daughter Shubhada went out on a boat on June 2, 2000, in a lake near their home village in Maharashtra. The boat flipped over, and both of the kids drowned. Shinde fell into a long period of sadness. Dr. Shrikant Shinde is the only child of Shinde who is still alive. He is an orthopedic surgeon and has been a member of the Lok Sabha from the Kalyan constituency since 2014. (re-elected in 2019).
The political career of Eknath Shinde
In the early 1980s, Thane Shivsena President Anand Dighe introduced Shinde to politics. After Dighe died in 2001, Shinde took over his work and continued his legacy. He has been elected to Legislative Assembly four times in a row, starting in 2004.

1997: First time being elected as a cooperator to Thane Municipal Corporation.
2001: Elected in 2001 to the position of house leader in the Thane Municipal Corporation.
2002: Second election to Thane Municipal Corporation.
2004: First time being elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Shiv Sena district chief for Thane since 2005. The party’s first MLA to be selected to such a prestigious position.
2009: Second election to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
2014: Third time being elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
2014: From October to December 2014, the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly’s opposition leader. Cabinet Minister of PWD (PU) for the Maharashtra State Government from 2014 to 2019.
2014–2019: Thane District’s guardian minister.
2018: Shiv Sena Party Leader Named in 2018.
2019: Maharashtra State Government Cabinet Minister of Public Health and Family Welfare.
2019: Fourth consecutive election to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
28th Nov 2019: Under the Maha-Vikas-Aghadi led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, took the oath to serve as a Cabinet Minister.
2019: Minister of Public Works and Urban Development appointed (Public Undertakings).
2019: Selected as the Acting Minister of Home Affairs (28 November 2019 – 30 December 2019)
2020: appointed as the Thane district’s guardian minister in 2020.
2022: India’s Maharashtra Chief Minister took the oath of office in 2022.
Part in the political upheaval of Maharashtra in 2022
The 2022 political crisis in Maharashtra started on June 21, 2022, when Shinde and several other MLAs from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition moved to Surat, which was in BJP-controlled Gujarat. This caused a crisis in the coalition. Shinde’s revolt caused Uddhav Thackeray to step down as Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He also said he would step down from the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Devendra Fadnavis told reporters at a press conference on June 30, 2022, that Eknath Shinde would be sworn in as the next Chief Minister of the State of Maharashtra that evening. He became the 20th Chief Minister after being sworn in, and Fadnavis became the Deputy Chief Minister.
